How to take your measurements
We recommend that you ask a friend or family member to take your measurements for you or preferably by a professional seamstress or tailor to ensure the measurements are accurate. Wear the kind of undergarments you will be wearing on the day, for example if you plan on wearing a strapless bra, then wear that and not another type of bra. If you plan on wearing Spanx or other support type undergarments, you must wear these when having your measurements taken. Remember to keep your thumb behind the tape and do not pull it tight. The tape should rest comfortably on your body without being too tight or too loose. Always stand straight with your arms relaxed by your side.
BUST: Not your bra size! Take the tape around your back and bring it across the fullest part of your bust. Your arms should be relaxed and down at your sides. You must wear a bra when taking this measurement.
WAIST: This should be the smallest part of your waist, typically an inch or so above your belly button. It is also known as the natural waistline.
HIPS : The widest part of your hips, across the hipbone and approximately seven inches below your natural waistline. This measurement is not needed for a ball gown and a full A-line gown.
HOLLOW TO HEM: Start the tape at the hollow at the base of the neck and measure down to where you want the hem.
HOLLOW TO WAIST : Start the tape at the hollow at the base of the neck and measure down to the natural waistline.
WAIST TO HEM: Measure from your natural waistline to where you want the hem to be. Be sure to wear the same size heels as those you will wear with your gown on your wedding date. We recommend that the length should be 2cm (3/4 inches) above the floor in order not to let the skirt catch on you during walking and dancing.
NATURAL HEIGHT : Your height from head to toe (No Heels).
